Health Club

TheHealth Club of Bishop Kurialacherry College for Women has been dedicated to promoting health and wellness among students, faculty, and staff. The club organized various activities and programs throughout the year aimed at fostering physical, mental, and social well-being.

Objectives

  • To create awareness about the importance of health and fitness.

  • To encourage participation in physical and mental health activities.

  • To provide resources and programs that support a healthy lifestyle.

  • To promote community engagement through health-related initiatives.

Activities Conducted

1. Awareness Campaigns:

Yoga Day Celebration June 2021: Organized seminars and workshops on topics such as nutrition, exercise, and mental health. Renowned health professionals were invited as speakers.

2. Fitness and Wellness Programs:

Weekly Yoga Sessions: Held every Tuesday , the sessions focused on stress relief and flexibility. A certified yoga instructor guided participants.

Aerobics and Zumba Classes: Organized to encourage fun and energetic workouts among students and staff.

Self-Défense Training for Girls : To empower girls with the skills and confidence to protect themselves in challenging situations, fostering a sense of safety and self-reliance.

3. Health Check-Up Camps:

In collaboration with School of Physical Education & Sports Sciences Mahatma Gandhi University , the club conducted a general health check-up camp, which included BMI measurement, blood pressure checks, and consultations with doctors.

4. Mental Health Initiatives:

Counseling Sessions: Jeevani Counselling Cell is a trailblazing mental health initiative by the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala.With Physical Education department of the College, This centre focus on early identification and intervention for mental health issues among students.
